The Barony of Eplaheimr bids you join us to witness and celebrate the succession of the thrones of Drachenwald!
10th - 12th January 2025
The darkest nights will be behind us, the brightest lights will shine, all of Lough Devnaree will also be celebrating Nollaig na mBan - or Women's Christmas (which is how 12th night is known in Ireland). Therefore on this most auspicious of occasions, we will be rejoicing not just in the new Crowns of Drachenwald, but also the women amongst us and everything they contribute to the Kingdom, from Her Majesty the Queen downwards. More on that as planning progresses.
As per our insurance policy, SCA members (of all affiliates and SCA inc.) are able to walk-in to the event, although we strongly encourage pre-booking in order for the staff to cater to the correct numbers and people to access accommodation if desired. Booking will remain open for members up to the day of the event. Booking for non-members will close 3 days before the event in order to facilitate the arrangement of insurance coverage with our insurance underwriters.
As per our policies, all our events, gatherings and activities are LGBTQIA++ safe spaces and we welcome people of all ethnicities and cultures. Please refer to our inclusivity and code of conduct statement and also our cancellation policy which applies to all our events.
Please note that due to the historic nature of the buildings, mobility access is severely limited. Only the ground floors are accessible.
Accommodation
Peterburg Outdoor Education Centre is located on the shores of Lough Mask in County Galway. It is situated in beautiful countryside, but close to the village of Clonbur which has an ATM and a store which also has a small alcohol section. It is also only a few minutes drive away from Cong which is a town with shops, hotels, restaurants, and antiquarian bookshop and the ruins of a Medieval Abbey.
Bedrooms are split between Petersburg House and Petersburg Centre. The bedrooms in the House sleep 4 people each in 2 sets of bunk beds. Each room is ensuite with toilet and shower. The bedrooms in the Centre consist of dormitories of bunk beds that can sleep between 10 to 14 people each. The dorms are on the upper floor and the shared bathrooms with multiple toilet and shower cubicles are on the Ground level. These large bathrooms also have changing areas and are similar to the type of bathrooms used in sports facilities. The Centre also has a very small number of smaller rooms which also share toilets and showers which will be used to prioritise families with children.
The facilities in the House are a bit more comfortable and also cost a bit more, so they are a bit more expensive. There are also fewer of them. The House can sleep 36, but the Centre can sleep 64. The site provides sheets, pillows and pillowcases, but no blankets. There are no bedrooms on the ground floor and no lifts. Mobility ramps can be provided for wheelchair users.
The site is wet, covered flames only. No dogs allowed as the surrounding fields will have livestock pastured in them.
There are also quite a number of local hotels, hostels, BnBs and Airbnbs in the surrounding area, if people prefer to stay offsite.
