Athenry Castle Demo

Sunday 16th August

Join us for Eplaheimr's first demo in Athenry Castle, August 16th from 13:30 - 17:30.

Demonstrate your arts, skills and knowledge to the world and public at large!  Bring just one A&S to show off and let people try, be it textile, leather, wood, parchment, paint or even samples of Medieval food that people can taste if they wish (always supply full list of ingredients!).  This is our longest-running demo and our chance to support Cluain Oir and Eplaheimr.

We can also setup games, and displays that require tables etc.. and we will rope of a section of the courtyard to show of fencing.  Hobby-horse jousting shall return to great acclaim.

Set up on site starts at 10am

- Come show off your skills at defeating your opponents in games of chance, skill and deception.
- Display your fine arts and sciences, so that others can see your fine accomplishments.
- Regal others with your knowledge of plants and herbs that will sooth their aches or add flavour to their lives.
- Display your marshal zeal atop the castle, as we fence for the public and to sneak in a little practice.

Facilities and Information:

As this is a mostly outdoor event please dress for the weather. We plan to set up a pavilion or sunshade  for shelter but they will not be fully enclosed. If you have a cart to bring heavy goods, that is strongly advised.

Parking is on-street only, and you won't be able to park too close to the castle. We are awaiting instructions on arrangements for offloading. The site has bathrooms, but the heritage centre is also only a short walk away

Bring food/snacks. Athenry is small and there are shops within easy walking distance, including a Supermacs. There are cafes and restaurants nearby. There is an Aldi within a 10min walk from the Castle.

Public transport: the Castle is an 8 minute walk from Athenry train station.
